The quality of a network depends on the right composition of the team and the commitment of its members. That is, why you might be interested in learning the reasons why some of our members decided to join IMA Germany.
We asked some of them three simple questions. Read here what they had to say...

Bettina Haug
Head of Regional Chapter Munich
- Why did you become a member of IMA?
I was looking for a group of like-minded people outside my company as well as affordable training for assistants. All in all I found friends, trainings AND my peer group.
- What has the IMA network been able to help you with so far?
IMA has helped me grow and get out of my comfort zone. IMA is my training platform, my space for "out of the box thinking" and the invisible support for my daily work on the job.
- What has been your personal highlight so far?
Attending international conferences and training days around the world.

Lilian Helbig
Head of Regional Chapter Frankfurt
- Why did you become a member of IMA?
It was a time in my life when I felt something had to change and there were new things to discover. I had agreed to an assignment in Nigeria by my employer. An international network of assistants therefore aroused my interest and after a few visits to events of the Frankfurt regional chapter, I decided to become a member at the end of 2014.
- What has the IMA network been able to help you with so far?
I have been acting as a volunteer since 2017 and have benefited from the personal contact and knowledge exchange with many members on professional topics and also their life experiences. The lively interest of the members in the local events and their positive encouragement inspire me very much to continue with energy and joy. It should be mentioned that I made some friends too. Furthermore, I attended several events of IMA Belgium, who are very active, and brought back new ideas for our regional chapter.
- What has been your personal highlight so far?
My personal highlight is and remains the International Conference in Frankfurt 2018. My participation in the organising team both was exciting and challenging. This way, I made many personal contacts with the international participants and it was great to be on stage at the end of the AGM and to be proud of the success of the whole event. Moreover, this was my way to voluntary work and it led to the offer to lead the regional chapter Frankfurt.

Carola Simon
Head of Regional Chapter Hamburg
- Why did you become a member of IMA?
I became a member after Luise Seidler (we both worked at that time for a Japanese boss) introduced IMA to me. The international aspect always appealed to me and still interests me.
- What has the IMA network been able to help you with so far?
Through IMA I was able to expand my network with like-minded people, apply and improve my language skills, make many private and professional friends and contribute my knowledge and experience in the office sector.
- What has been your personal highlight so far?
The 40th anniversary celebration in Paris.
